Here’s the first of the monthly calendar backgrounds available for you to download. I’m very short on time this month to try and decide which shot to use, so I’m kind of wimping out and chosing the shot currently in use on my blog header. A very big thank you to John Eacott for sending me over a complete set of calendar .PSD files, saving me loads of boring Photoshop work.
The subject is a Yak 52 taken nearly two years ago now at Elvington Airfield, North Yorkshire, UK. The British Aerobatic Championships were being held and this aircraft flew in to watch. Shot on Canon 1DS with a Canon strobe under the nose, triggered by a Pocket Wizard. I dropped a Lee ND Grad into the sky to balance the exposure a little more. I’d hitched a ride there in a Robinson R44, so the only equipment I had was what I could carry, Robinson’s not exactly being renowned for their luggage capacity…
There are two sizes and two versions of the background. The Mac version has the calendar positioned on the left, in recognition of the way that OSX lays out it’s icons and there’s a choice of two screen widths.
